SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — A culinary festival celebrating the primary mixing of a Caesar Salad will happen in downtown Tijuana from Thursday to Sunday, involving 50 well-known cooks from throughout the area.
The unique recipe was conceived in a restaurant at Caesar’s Hotel in downtown Tijuana about 100 years ago.
The man who first blended the now well-known salad is César Cardini, an immigrant from Italy. On July 4th, there shall be an unveiling of a statue honoring Cardini.
Throughout the weekend, cooks will host occasions at Caesar’s Restaurant in Tijuana, birthplace of the salad.
