Fatal crash on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz snarls traffic

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KRON) — Heavy rain was pouring over Santa Cruz throughout Wednesday morning’s rush-hour commute when a lethal crash occurred on Highway 1.

The California Highway Patrol issued a traffic alert and advised drivers to count on delays on Highway 1 close to the Morrissey Boulevard exit. As of 9:45 a.m., the far proper southbound lane remained closed with no estimated time for reopening.

The crash occurred round 7:43 a.m. when a driver misplaced management, their automotive went up an embankment, and the automotive flipped, based on the CHP’s traffic incident web site.

CHP officers confirmed that one individual was killed in the wreck. Officers are nonetheless on scene investigating.
