Observing Saturday’s International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, he highlighted the numerous Jewish youngsters, ladies and males, in addition to plenty of others, that experienced mistreatment and fatality throughout that dark duration.

Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) asked for reinforcing our dedication to sharing the memory of the victims of the Holocaust “to pass the torch on to future generations.”
“To honour the victims, but also to train future generations to identify and combat hate speech, this International Day reminds us of our essential duty to remember,” she claimed.
“May we remain vigilant,” she included, remembering the caution offered by Hungarian author and camp survivor Imre Kertész, that “Auschwitz was not an accident of history, there are many signs that its repetition is possible.”
Commemorative occasions
Memorial events were held at UN workplaces worldwide, consisting of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the UN Office at Geneva, and the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
At the event in New York on Friday, Holocaust survivors Christian Pfeil and sis Edith Tennenbaum Shapiro and Selma Tennenbaum Rossen shared their tales, together with a petition by Cantor Daniel Singer, and efficiencies by violinist Doori Na, vocalists Petra and Patrik Gelbart.
