A full closure of the section of State Highway 84 generally known as Niles Canyon Road, in Alameda County, will stay in impact till at least Friday after a piece of the roadway collapsed on Monday.
The street is closed between Old Canyon Road and Main Street, within the unincorporated group of Sunol.
Emergency repairs are wanted on an eastbound portion of the street east of Palomares Road that collapsed into Alameda Creek when the bottom beneath deteriorated throughout continued rainfall.
Caltrans mentioned Tuesday that the street can be evaluated on Friday after one other storm system strikes through the area. One-way site visitors controls could possibly be arrange at that point as emergency repairs are made.
Alternate routes can be found by taking Interstate Highway 680 to Mission Boulevard or Interstate Highway 580 to State Highway 238.
