Feredal brokers isn’t searching for to escalate the standoff with Texan authorities, a authorities official advised the media
Federal brokers are usually not planning to dismantle the razor wire put in by Texas on a portion of the US-Mexico border, Fox News reported, citing a senior Customs and Border Protection (CBP) official.
The information comes because the deadline set by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for Texas to “remove any and all obstructions” to entry into Shelby Park in Eagle Pass expires on Friday.
“Bottom line: Border Patrol has no plans to remove infrastructure (c-wire) placed by Texas along the border,” the official stated. “Our posture remains the same. If we need to access an area for emergency response, we will do so. When that happens, we will coordinate with Texas DPS [Department of Public Safety] & TMD [Texas Military Department].”
The tensions between the White House and Texas over immigration intensified on Monday when the Supreme Court dominated that the federal authorities can take down the concertina wire erected by Texas Governor Gregg Abbott to cease unlawful border crossings.
Abbott is accusing President Joe Biden of refusing to implement immigration legislation and has described the surge of migrants making an attempt to cross the border as an “invasion.”
“Texas will continue to exercise its constitutional right to protect and defend our southern border,” Abbott wrote on X (previously Twitter) on Friday. “In President Biden’s absence, we will hold the line to keep Texans – and Americans – safe.”
In an open letter printed on Thursday, 25 Republican governors backed Abbott saying that the federal authorities had “attacked and sued Texas for stepping up to protect American citizens from historic levels of illegal immigrants, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and terrorists entering our country.”
White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre described Abbott’s actions as a “political stunt,” and accused him of making “a dangerous situation” on the border. The governor is stopping Border Patrol from doing what “they need to save lives,” she advised reporters this week.
